Oilers sign two NHL veterans to a professional tryout offer.
The Edmonton Oilers have added a pair of NHL veterans to their training camp roster.
Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland has not had a lot of wiggle room to work with this summer but it would appear that he has found a way to add some depth to his roster... at least for now.
According to an official announcement from the Oilers on Monday morning, the Oilers have added a pair of National Hockey League veterans to their training camp roster with professional tryout offers. Two players have accepted a PTO from the Oilers with those being forward Sam Gagner and forward Brandon Sutter.
Sutter most recently played for Western Conference rivals the Vancouver Canucks, an organization he spent several season with, and recorded 9 goals and 3 assists for a total of 12 points over 43 games last season.
Gagner on the other hand spent last season with the Winnipeg Jets, recording 8 goals and adding 6 assists for a total of 14 points over 48 games last season. Ganger was originally drafted by the Oilers in the first round (6th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft so this may be a nice closing of the circle for Ganger when it comes to his NHL career.
