Nikita Zadorov ejected after taking out Lucas Raymond.
Nikita Zadorov tossed from the game after hitting Lucas Raymond up high.
Nikita Zadorov has landed himself in some trouble, and we will have to wait to see if there may be any further discipline coming his way.
On Saturday, during an afternoon game between the Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings, Zadorov found himself ejected from the game after he delivered a questionable hit to Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond. There was no question that the Canucks defenseman caught Raymond up high and after reviewing the video evidence the officials on the ice awarded Zadorov a match penalty.
The question now of course is will the NHL's Department of Player Safety follow up with a suspension, or will the match penalty suffice in this situation? The league has been quick to punish hits to the head this season and it remains to be seen what will come of this, if anything.
Here's a look at the replay:
Thankfully, in spite of leaving the game after the hit, Raymond has been able to return to the ice so it would appear as though he is going to be just fine.
