NHL unveils Calgary Flames' quarter century teams.

The NHL has unveiled the quarter century teams for the Calgary Flames organization.

The National Hockey League has unveiled the quarter century teams for the Calgary Flames and that of course includes both a first and second quarter century team, each of which is comprised of 3 forwards, 2 defensemen and a goaltender.

You'll be happy to note that the very first name to appear on the list is that of the late Johnny Gaudreau and how could he not be included on such a list so soon after the tragic incident that claimed his life and that of his brother, Matthew Gaudreau. Not only was Johnny a tremendous player for the Calgary Flames during his tenure with the team but he also clearly left an undeniable mark on the sport of hockey and the city of Calgary was no exception.

Gaudreau will be joined on the first team's forward line by legendary Calgary Flames forward Jerome Iginla and recently crowned Stanley Cup champion Matthew Tkachuk, and they will be backed up by Mark Giordano and Robyn Regehr on defense as well as Miikka Kiprusoff in goal.

The Flames second quarter century team isn't lacking in star power either with Mikael Backlund, Craig Conroy and Sean Monahan making up the forwards, Rasmus Andersson and Dion Phaneuf on defense and of course goaltender Jacob Markstrom taking up the second spot in goal.

Unlike some of the lists that have been publish this one has been met with relatively little controversy, with no outright objections to any of the names on the list but a few questioning some potential snubs. First here's a look at the list:

Some fans called for the likes of Theo Fleury and Lanny McDonald to be included but those complaints were few and far between and the reception seems to have largely been positive.

Do you agree with the list? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
