NHL team creates new alternative to contract tracking and it’s revolutionary!

Fans are loving the new option since Cap Friendly was sold to Washington.

In early July, hockey fans have to grieve the disappearance of CapFriendly.com, who is no longer operational to the public since it was bought out by the Washington Capitals.

And so since CapFriendly.com no longer displays new information on contracts and player status, fans have been looking at other alternative, including PuckPedia, which has made several improvements to its layout and cap tools for tracking since becoming the top provided on the scene.

However, one NHL team has created its own contract tracking website as the St. Louis Blues announced on Wednesday that they have published their own contract tracker, where fans can find details on their current roster’s deals.

"CapFriendly may be gone... but BluesFriendly is here," said the Blues' X (formerly Twitter) account.

The page offers details on every player’s contract, clause and also a special note on how, when and why some were acquired via the trade market, free agency or NHL draft thanks to a focus on acquisition history.

Fans also get to see when a deal comes to term and which status that specific player will get if he is not re-signed before the deadline. The grid goes until the 2029, although four players are under contract beyond that season: Colton Parayko being signed through 2029-30 and forwards Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich under contract through 2030-31.

There is definitely potential to see other teams around the NHL come out with their own page dedicated to players’ contracts.

This is certainly a Friendly way to inform fans, and I bet NHL commissioner Gary Bettman can smell the business potential here.
