In a true example of how heated the Stanley Cup Playoffs can become, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy made contact with the neck of Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid after the final horn of last night's game with his stick.

It came in the immediate aftermath of McDavid having delivered a whack of his own to Soucy's lower body; McDavid was then crosschecked from behind by Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov right as Soucy was responding with a crosscheck that made contact with his neck.

It was announced soon afterward that Soucy would be facing discipline with a hearing from the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety. And now, he's learned his fate. Soucy has been suspended for tomorrow night's Game 4 of the series; he'll be eligible to return in Game 5.

In nine playoff games with the Canucks this season, Soucy has registered four assists along with a +3 rating and six penalty minutes.
