There's a new era of the Edmonton Oilers, and it it's the "Soup" era.
Goaltender Jack Campbell agreed to a five year contract with the Oilers after having enjoyed a coming out party with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Campbell helped the Leafs to back to back playoff appearances while posting mostly solid regular season numbers, though he and his teammates were unable to advance past the 1st round of the postseason in either of his attempts between the pipes.
With 41 year old Mike Smith slated for LTIR (meaning his career is likely over), Oilers general manager Ken Holland went out and snagged arguably the biggest name amongst goaltenders that was available this offseason. And Campbell, who has been known for displaying some clean equipment setups with flashy mask artwork designs, has given fans a glimpse of the artwork that will be adorning his new mask for the upcoming 2022-23 campaign.
