While Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Reilly has taken time away from social media and his offseason to relax during the offseason, he is well aware of the buzz caused by his teammates Auston Matthews and William Nylander and their pending contract extensions with the team.
Both Matthews and Nylander can sign a contract extension as soon as July 1. On top of that, a no-move clause kicks in on Mitch Marner’s contract on the same date. There is a lot of the table for new GM Brad Treliving and Reilly made a massive statement when it comes to keeping the Core Four together.
“They’re going to do their thing. I believe they both want to be here. I believe they’ll get done, it’ll take care of itself,” Reilly told TSN about the ongoing contract negotiations between the Maple Leafs and the star forwards.
Reilly quickly admitted that Treliving had a huge to-do list this summer, but seems already impressed with how the new general manager is busy at work.
“He’s been there every day,” Rielly said of Treliving. “Our conversations have been good, but we haven’t spent too much time since he’s got a lot on his plate.”
The blue liner appears confident that the contracts will get done and so maybe fans will feel better about this.
