More cuts coming to Sportsnet following Jeff Marek departure.

There is already talk that we could see another round of sweeping changes at Sportsnet this summer.

The hockey world was shocked last week when it was announced that long time Canadian hockey voice Jeff Marek would be parting ways with Sportsnet after over a decade with the company.

I won't spend too much time on Marek given that I've already covered that earlier, but needless to say fans were incredibly disappointed and it resulted in a truly amazing outpouring of support directed at Marek from just about every corner of the hockey community.

Unfortunately today we are learning that there may soon be more familiar faces making an exit from Sportsnet this summer with yet another report from Jonas Sigel of YYZ Sports Media breaking the story. According to Sigel, who was first to officially report that Marek and Sportsnet had parted ways, there will be another round of "changes"/cuts/layoffs coming to Sportsnet in short order.

Sigel goes out of his way to point out that Marek's departure was unrelated to the cuts that are expected to come down at Sportsnet, and that the timing is merely a coincidence.

Sigel's source has indicated that "changes" will be made but at this time there has been no credible reporting regarding what form those changes might take at Sportsnet, on television or on the radio. Sigel did speculate however that one of the few properties that have been changed in recent years is the Blair and Barker show, and it did seem like he was implying they are likely to be a target.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
