Monster unexpected trade in the works in Chicago!

We’re not talking Kane or Toews, but still the reported return is HUGE!

The focus has been on Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews ahead of the trade deadline, and it makes sense, however, they have been other reports pointed to other trade baits, including forward Max Domi and defenseman Jake McCabe.

And when it comes to the latter, there is a new update from insider Frank Seravalli that revealed how much of a monster move this could be, seeing that the asking price is much more steep than first anticipated.

Per Seravalli, if McCabe is moved he could get a return that includes a first-round pick.

“McCabe is gonna get a first rounder and some change for sure”

Seravalli compares the potential pending trade to past ones:

July 23, 2021
To Philadelphia: Rasmus Ristolainen
To Buffalo: Robert Hagg, 2021 1st Round Pick (Isak Rosen), 2023 2nd Round Pick

Feb. 24, 2020
To Carolina: Brady Skjei
To NY Rangers: 2020 1st Round Pick (Hendrix Lapierre)”

McCabe, 29, is currently on a four year $4 million contract that he signed with the Blackhawks last year. He’s put up 12 points and is a plus-2 rating this year which isn’t bad for the awful season happening in Chicago.

The blue liner has been linked to many suitors, notably the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings. They would however would be willing, not only to part with a first-round pick, but to take on a long-term player on board and not just a rental.

It sounds like another significant move could take place in Chicago on top of the potential outcome that Kane and Toews leave for a chance at another championship.

A lot going on in Chicago…
