Milan Lucic receives a huge honor in return to Boston.
Milan Lucic receives an incredible honor from the Boston Bruins in his return to the city.
Veteran National Hockey League forward Milan Lucic has been away from the Boston Bruins for many years, but it is really starting to feel like the man never left. One thing that is certain is that the legacy he left behind won't be leaving anytime soon.
Lucic has repeatedly expressed how excited he is to return to the city where his NHL career began, and that excitement likely only grew over the weekend when the Bruins treated him to an incredible honor. Recently Lucic was given a document, a letter from Bruins president Cam Neely, that informed him that he was to be named among the top 100 most legendary players in Boston Bruins history.
The Bruins shared a number of photos from the moment that Lucic received his letter, and there's no hiding the look of pure joy on his face. Making things all that much sweeter will be the fact that teammate Charlie McAvoy, who also received a letter naming him to that same top 100 list, was on hand to celebrate the moment with him.
And it's not just the team that is happy to have Lucic back within the fold either, it is very clear that the fans in Boston are welcoming him back with open arms as well. Lucic recently threw out the first pitch for the Boston Red Sox, and the fans in attendance gave him a very warm reception.
You might think you're hearing some boos from the crowd, but those are actually chants of "Luuuu," a chant that Lucic heard with regularity during his tenure with the Bruins. That fans in attendance for an entirely different sport remember him so fondly speaks to the legacy he left behind in Boston, and lends a great deal of credibility to his ranking among the top 100 Bruins of all time.
