Max Domi finalizing new deal with Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is getting very close to signing a new deal, details inside.
It sounds like Max Domi is intent on remaining a Toronto Maple Leaf and it sounds like that works just fine for the Maple Leafs organization as well.
Although no deal has as of yet been announced, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting that Domi and the Maple Leafs are getting close to finalizing a deal. According to the insider, talks between the two sides have intensified considerably over the last 24 hours and it sounds like a deal will get done.
Domi had been rumored to be looking for a deal in the range of 4 years at an average annual value and cap hit of $4 million per season, but it sounds like the Maple Leafs have been able to negotiate that price down a little. Friedman reports that he expects the deal will come with a 4 year term, but adds that he expects it to come just under that AAV of $4 million per season.
This would appear to be a solid deal for the Maple Leafs, representing a raise of just under $1 million for Domi, who finished the 2023-2024 season as a core piece of the Maple Leafs offense.
Domi appeared in 80 regular season games for the Maple Leafs, scoring 9 goals and adding 38 assists for a total of 47 points in the regular season, and had a goal and 3 assists for a total of 4 points over the Maple Leafs 7 playoff appearances.
