Martin St. Louis slams the referees after losing on Saturday.

The head coach of the Montreal Canadiens was in quite the mood after losing to the Rangers on Saturday.

Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis has found a rather creative way to express his disgust at the officiating in the National Hockey League while also avoiding any potential fines from the league itself.

On Saturday, St. Louis and his Canadiens faced off against the New York Rangers and things did not go their way in terms of the final score or in terms of calls throughout the course of the game. The Rangers would eventually win by a score of 4-3 in regulation, but following the conclusion of the game it was clear that St. Louis' focus was entirely on the officiating.

Although St. Louis did not explicitly come out and discuss how terrible the officiating was, he instead found a subtle way to do so while answering questions from reporters. St. Louis was first asked about the game by a French journalist and here is how he responded:

"I loved our game but I'm not going to talk about the refs," said St. Louis in French.

For those of you who might be thinking that this doesn't sound like him talking bad about the officials you would be correct, but when he was asked a second question, again in French, St. Louis answered with the following:

"I loved our game but I'm not going to talk about the refs," said St. Louis again.

Now I'm sure you can start to see where this is going and the frustration was clearly showing on the face of the Canadiens head coach as the next question came his way. I bet you can probably guess what answer St. Louis had for reporters this time around.

"I loved our game but I'm not going to talk about the refs," said St. Louis, this time in English.

The fourth question came his way and was again asked in French, but the answer from the head coach stayed the same.

"I loved our game but I'm not going to talk about the refs," said St. Louis a fourth time.

At this point the Canadiens bench boss tried to leave the media scrum, clearly frustrated, but was stopped by another reporter who this time around asked him a lengthy and more detailed question. St. Louis once again fired back with the same response.

"I loved our game but I'm not going to talk about the refs," said St. Louis before leaving the media scrum for good.

It made for a rather hilarious display and one in which a clear message was sent to referees Kelly Sutherland and Francis Charron who were overseeing today's game.
