Needless to say, things did not go according to plan for the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at Scotiabank Arena against the visiting division rival Ottawa Senators.
Not only did several Leafs players put forth subpar performances, but the Senators were able to put six goals into their net by the time it was all said and done. Instead of building off their dramatic come-from-behind win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Leafs instead laid an egg on home ice.
Analyst and noted Leafs fan Paul Bissonnette pulled no punches in his assessment of Toronto's play:
Veteran defenseman Mark Giordano took some particular heat on social media for his performance tonight:
John Klingberg, who embarrassed himself by tripping over a ghost shortly before a Senators goal, also was the target of a few verbal barbs:
And goaltender Joseph Woll......woof.
The Leafs need to get it together, and fast!
