Some sad news to share as the hockey community has lost one of its own today.

On Sunday, the Toronto Maple Leafs officially confirmed the passing of former National Hockey League forward Pete Conacher, he was 92 years old.

Conacher, the son of NHL legend Charlie "The Big Bomber" Conacher, played several seasons in the NHL as a member of 3 different teams, the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers and of course the Maple Leafs. Over the course of his career he would appear in 229 NHL games, scoring 47 goals and adding 39 assists for a total of 86 career points.

Although Conacher had a notable career in the NHL, he may be best remembered for his work to better the lives of his fellow Canadians. Conacher served as President of the Ontario chapter of Special Olympics Canada and also served on the board of his father's cancer research fund, the Charlie Conacher Throat Cancer Research Fund.
