Major deal brewing between Oilers and Flyers?
Is Ken Holland swinging for the fences here?
HockeyFeed
By now, hockey fans are well aware of current Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland's propensity to go after older players who are well past their prime for that "grizzled veteran" touch. Red Wings fans were nearly driven mad by Holland during his later years in the organization when he traded away highly touted prospects for older players with not much left in the tank, and Oilers fans have gotten a taste of it as well.
However, it appears as though he could be looking to switch things up a bit with his reported interest in two players who are both under the age of 30. According to The Hockey News, Holland is interested in both Travis Konecny and Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Laughton scored 18 goals with 25 assists for the Flyers last season, who were playing their first season under the hard-nosed John Tortorella. He's in the midst of a five year, $15 million contract. Additionally, Konecny tallied 31 goals despite only appearing in 60 games.
