Longtime NHL analyst Pierre McGuire lands a new job
This guy just won't quit!
This just in, longtime hockey executive and broadcast analyst Pierre McGuire has accepted a broadcasting position with UMass of the NCAA.
Check it out:
"Pierre recruited me to go to Saint Lawrence," said UMass head coach Greg Carvel in a prepared statement. "We quickly built a strong friendship. He coached me for just one year and then he moved on and won Stanley Cups. We've always remained close, when we were in the NHL we would spend a lot of time together and cross paths. He's one of the smartest hockey people going and he's got a memory of every single player and where they played and who they played for and what they did and it's really impressive. He's a really smart hockey person and I know a lot of GMs call him for advice. He's a unique and special hockey mind."
Most recently McGuire was employed by the Ottawa Senators as Senior Vice-President of Player Development, a role that he was in for less than a calendar year when he was dismissed in 2022.
He's more well known for his long stint with NBC Sports Group's as lead NHL 'Inside-the-Glass' analyst and a game analyst for TSN Canada's national NHL broadcasts. In 2013, McGuire won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality – Sports Reporter. In addition to his work on TSN's NHL coverage, McGuire provided analysis for TSN's coverage of the IIHF World Junior Championship and NHL Entry Draft and for NBC Sports' coverage at six Olympic Games.
