Leon Draisaitl wins it in overtime on his birthday!

Birthday boy Leon Draisaitl was a force on Sunday and he sealed the deal in overtime!

The Edmonton Oilers got a great deal of help from a not-so-secret weapon on Sunday night in the form of birthday boy Leon Draisaitl.

It was the 29th birthday for the Oilers' number 29 and he had about as good of a game as could have been expected, contributing on all 3 Oilers points in the game including the overtime winner.

The Oilers started the overtime frame on the man advantage for just a few seconds, and that would allow them to gain the offensive zone and it wasn't long before they put the game away for good. It all started with a great pass from Oilers captain Connor McDavid who found an open Mattias Ekholm on the opposite end of the ice, and Ekholm would then fake a shot that was a disguised pass to Leon Draisaitl who was left with a wide open cage in front of him.

Draisaitl made no mistake, cleanly deflecting the puck behind Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot who was excellent throughout the game despite the loss for the Red Wings. Draisaitl may not have made a big deal about this game being on his birthday but, if the excitement on his face following the goal was any indication, he was definitely feeling himself in that moment.

Draisaitl received a special gift when he retreated to the locker room and took a moment to speak to the media about his big win, a few small cakes to celebrate his big day, but apparently he did not eat them and instead did something very classy by handing his treats to members of the Oilers staff.
