That 8-1 season-opening debacle is still trending, but Draisaitl’s answer might take over now!
On Wednesday night, the Edmonton Oilers and their fanbase were excited to get the 2023-24 season underway. After they barely showed up and lost 8-1 to the Vancouver Canucks, they weren’t as thrilled let’s say…
The Oilers looked soft on the back end and didn’t show they could be that team they claim to be who can be a top contender and make it further into the Stanley Cup playoffs this time around.
The club was back on the ice for pratice on Friday, ahead of a rematch against the Canucks, in Edmonton this time, on Saturday and when star fowrard Leon Draisaitl met with reporters afterwards, he provides quite an interest response to the blowout loss.
“Sometimes it’s good to get smacked a little.”
That’s one way to look at it. Let’s hope it means that the Oilers have learn the lesson here and will show up against the Canucks tomorrow.
The Oilers played their worst game of the season in their first game of the season. And so let’s see if Draisaitl is right and this ass-whooping will kick the Oilers into gear!
