National Hockey League veteran Kyle Palmieri has earned himself a nasty new scar on Sunday but in true warrior fashion, as we have come to expect from hockey players, it has hardly deterred the New York Islanders forward.

On Sunday, during a clash between Palmieri's Islanders and the New York Rangers, Palmieri suffered a gruesome looking injury to his face after a follow through caught him up high. It was enough to give Palmieri a nasty cut, but it wouldn't be until he returned to the bench at the start of the second period that we could truly see the extent of the damage to his face.

Palmieri was sporting a new scar that began at his bottom lip and went all the way up the left side of his face, extending past his nose. It was a huge, nasty looking scar but Palmieri appeared not to notice as he sniffed smelling salts and looked to get himself back into the game with his Islanders trailing by a goal in the second period.

It would prove to be a good decision on the part of Palmieri as his team would fall behind by a pair of goals later in the period, that was until Palmieri drove the net late in the second period and played a big role on the Islanders cutting that lead back down to just 1.

Palmieri is showing what a warrior he is today, and depending on how that scar heals he may have a new look to prove it as well.

The timing of this injury for Palmieri is rather unfortunate as his new scar could have been a great addition to a Halloween costume had it come a few days earlier.
