Kyle Dubas on a potential coaching change in Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have not gotten off to the start that they had wanted this season, this in spite of some significant moves on the part of newly appointed president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas, and now tough questions are starting to be asked.

On Monday, Dubas faced one of those difficult questions when he was asked what the future looked like for Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan behind the bench of the Penguins. Dubas, who has seen his team struggle in his first season as general manager, could have easily dodged the question but instead gave Sullivan his full vote of confidence.

"Being with Mike Sullivan every day and not only seeing his attention to detail on the systems and with the players, I think we're very fortunate to have Mike," said Dubas to reporters in Pittsburgh on Monday. "Do I think he's the right person for this job, right now and far into the future? I absolutely do."

You can hardly blame reporters for asking the question given that Dubas has yet to appoint a head coach in his new role with the Penguins, having inherited Sullivan from previous management groups. The Penguins also find themselves hovering above the bottom of the National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division this season with a recording of 11-12-3 to start the season. Add to that the fact that the Penguins are currently on a 4 game losing streak, and it's fair to wonder if something may have to give here sooner rather than later.
