Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach admitted he kind of snapped on Tuesday night in the preseason game against the Ottawa Senators. He pounded Senators’ Ridly Greig during a third period fight as temper flared all game long.

It all started in the first frame when Greig levelled Dach with a blindside hit to the jaw. The Habs’ center immediately headed to the dressing room for observation but ended up returning for the start of the second period. When asked about the hit on Wednesday at the Canadiens’ practice facility, Dach explained he never saw Greig coming.

“I didn’t really see him coming. I didn’t have the puck and he kind of blindsided me,” Dach said. “He hits me clean in the jaw. I don’t think it was a hockey play.”

And so when the third frame came and the Senators were in the lead, Dach’s frustration only grew, especially after he took a third-period interference penalty against Greig in the offensive zone. Once he came out of the sin bin, he did spot Greig and was not going to miss. Dach put a beating on the Sens’ forward.

He hit me in the face and, so, I kind of snapped. I’d had enough,” said of Greig.

While On Wednesday, Dach admitted he lost his temper, but didn’t say anything about what was caught on TV when the Habs’ player can be seen chirping at a Senators’ fan in the crowd, telling his girlfriend to call him, per Hockey Patrol.

It feels like a lot about this preseason contest between the Canadiens and Senators was ugly. Not only did Dach had a go at Greig, but both defenseman Jayden Struble and forward Michael Pezzetta attempted to take a shot at him in the first period. In the middle frame, defenseman Arber Xhekaj was give a minor, major and game misconduct — his second match penalty in as many games — after delivering a bone-crushing hit on Tim Stutzle, who lost his helmet and sustained a cut o his nose from his own stick. Xhekaj then fought captain Brady Tkachuk before his night came to an end.

I guess this is a game everyone wants to forget, including the poor Sens’ fan and his girlfriend who got mixed up in the altercation with Dach.
