KHL equipment manager begs hockey community for help escaping Russia.
A shocking update.
The hockey community has just been hit hard with a desperate cry for help, one that is quite frankly horrifying, chilling, and downright depressing.
Over the weekend an equipment manager for the Kontinental Hockey League took to social media to quite literally beg the hockey community for help. The man, identified as Anton Tishkin, described how he was in fear for his personal well being, his safety, and of course the well being of his family which includes 3 young sons.
For the sake of preserving the integrity of Anton's message, here it is unedited and in full:
Hello Friends
My name is Anton and I am an equipment manager from Russia. Now I'm working for Chinese hockey dub Kunlun red star. But we're base in Russia now.
Unfortunately, the situation has worsened a lot. Mobilization began in the country. Those who do not want to go to war are sent to prison. The government said that they would only conscript 300,000 people to the war, but that is a lie. They call on everyone they can reach. They send subpoenas even to players in the KHL. The doctor of HC Avangard received a summons. They don't care at all. They only want blood.
Here in Russia I have three little sons and I'm scared. I am afraid that instead of working honestly and earning money for them, I will have to go to prison (because I will not go to war for sure). I am a really good employee. I am ready to work for any money and in any position. I just need to get my family out of Russia while I can.
In the event that Anton's post gets taken down, here is a screenshot of the original:
That Anton is offering to work any job for any amount of money speaks to the level of desperation he is currently feeling, especially when you consider his wealth of experience in the sport. It's hard not to feel for Anton and all of the others that currently find themselves in a similar predicament.
I can only hope that his plea will reach someone who is in a position to offer him aid.
