Jonathan Toews takes final shot at former GM Stan Bowman
Shots fired at the old regime!

In the past, Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews was heavily criticized for not taking a stand on what happened to former prospect Kyle Beach and for what former GM Stan Bowman did or did not do to protect him and change the sick mentality in the organization. Toews once explained that he was young himself, and the focus on winning the Stanley Cup back in 2010 when the sexual abuse at the hands of Brad Aldrich took place was pushed down players’ throats at the time.
Toews however took a shot at the former GM on Thursday after returning to play for the first time after suffering a concussion. When asked about new general Manager Kyle Davidson, Toews believed it was the opportunity to send a message at what he thought of the old regime in Chicago. Here is what he said on Davidson (and indirectly on Bowman):
“He’s the kind of guy that knows how to make decisions not based on attachment or ego, and he’s going to do what’s right for the organization… It’s exciting to at least know that this team will have some direction.”
Toews looks to be realizing that a lot of things are more important than hockey. He sustained a concussion on Jan. 26 during a game against the Detroit Red Wings. He also missed the entire 2020-21 season due to a chronic immune response syndrome.
The Hawks got the overtime win over the Edmonton Oilers last night. And Toews got his message out to Bowman and fans about what was on his mind about his time with the organization.
