Another injury issue for the Detroit Red Wings will open the door for arguably their highest-touted prospect this evening against the Original 6 rival New York Rangers.
Head coach Derek Lalonde explained following today's morning skate that towering forward Elmer Soderblom is considered day to day with an injury issue, and in his stead, it will be 2018 Draft selection Jonatan Berggren making his National Hockey League debut.
Berggren was selected with the 33rd overall pick in 2018 by Detroit, and has scored four goals with three assists in his last six games with the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins.
Detroit's injury list is extensive, as they're already without Tyler Bertuzzi, Robby Fabbri, Filip Zadina, Matt Luff, and Oskar Sundqvist. Meanwhile, Jakub Vrana remains in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
