Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella is notorious for taking zero prisoners and for treating everyone on his squad equally, regardless of their status or salary. He demonstrated that on Tuesday night with his demoting Sean Couturier, who was recently named team captain, as a healthy scratch against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

And now, all indications are that Couturier will once again be sitting for tonight's game against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena in Raleigh.

It was Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet who described what he feels the problem that Tortorella has with Couturier - his pace of play.

Friedman wrote the following in his most recent "32 Thoughts" column:

"Okay, Sean Couturier. No one should be surprised. John Tortorella has no sacred cows. Could happen to anyone and everyone with him, and he’s pushed almost every right button in Philadelphia this season. From what I’ve heard, it’s a “pace” issue. No one questions Couturier’s will or desire and no one should. He easily could have stayed injured and cashed the checks. And I don’t have a problem with his initial disappointment. Even as captain, he’s entitled to a day of frustration."
