Jay Woodcroft roasts unprofessional reporter ahead of Game 3.

Shots fired.

Mark Spector is probably still feeling the sting of this one.

On Saturday, as the Oilers were gearing up for Game 3 of the Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche, Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft made himself available to the media. This is pretty typical stuff for a head coach ahead of a big game, but today's media scrum was a little unique in that Woodcroft ended up getting into it with one of the reporters that was on hand for his availability. That reporter of course was the aforementioned Spector.

The incident began when Spector attempted to direct a question at the Oilers head coach but appeared to lose his words in the process and choose poorly when he finally found them again.

"You're a bit of of a... sort of a... coaching geek guy," asked Spector awkwardly.

Judging by the look that immediately came across the face of Woodcroft I don't think he liked being characterized as a "geek" by Spector and quite frankly I can't blame him. The Oilers head coach admonished Spector for his lack of professionalism, albeit he did so in a good natured manner and managed to laugh the whole thing off.

"Whoa, I don't think that's very professional of you Spec," said Woodcroft. "I don't do personal attacks on you."

Woodcroft handled this like a professional in spite of the fact that his initial reaction would lead you to believe that he wasn't at all pleased with Spector in that moment. Unfortunately for Spector someone else in attendance decided to give him a bit of a ribbing for his awkward question, someone that sounded a lot like the Oilers' own Bob Stauffer.

"That would be easy," said the unidentified voice when Woodcroft mentioned making personal attacks against Spector.

Again full credit to Woodcroft for handling this well, although he did get to have his fun at the expense of Spector in the process. Aside from that initial moment of surprise the Oilers coach did a very good job of just brushing the whole thing off.
