Jaromir Jagr speaks out on the passing of Johnny Gaudreau.
Living legend Jaromir Jagr comments on the passing of the man who assisted on his final NHL goal.
A living legend is the latest to comment on the tragic and untimely passing of young brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
On Monday, National Hockey League legend Jaromir Jagr took to his Instagram to share a message in his native language of Czech about the passing of his former teammate, Johnny Gaudreau. As it so happens, Johnny was the last player to ever assist on one of Jaromir Jagr's goals in the NHL, a memorable moment that came relatively early on in his NHL career.
Jagr's message has been translated through the use of software:
I honestly never thought I'd write a text like this to a post. Yea that was my last nhl goal Yes, that was a pretty nice goal. Yes, it was a beautiful pass above all. Unfortunately, life can sometimes be incredibly cruel. Thank you Johnny Gaudreau for being there and giving hope to all the guys with your incredible performances that though they are not the biggest and toughest, they can succeed at the NHL world class just like you did. My condolences to the whole family.
R.I.P. to you and your brother.
If you haven't seen the goal in question have no fear, Jagr included it in the lovely message he published to honor Johnny's memory.
And these aren't just merely colorful words from Jagr either, as he had previously commented on how stunned he was by Gaudreau's relatively smaller size.
It seems that Jagr does genuinely believe that "very special guy" Johnny Gaudreau played a big role in paving the way for players of smaller size to get a chance in the NHL.
