Jaromir Jagr dresses as Santa & calls out Alex Ovechkin.

Jagr bringing the Christmas fire.

For as long as I can remember Jaromir Jagr has been among the most beloved figures in the world of hockey, and moments like this only help ensure that this will remain true well into the future.

On Saturday, Christmas Day, Jagr took to social media to spread a little Christmas cheer to all of his long time fans. The living legend didn't simply wish everyone a happy holiday however, he also included a picture of a very exhausted looking Santa Claus that was played by none other than the living legend himself. I'm not sure if Jagr was just trying to look the part, Santa Claus does have to fly around the world to deliver presents to all the children after all, or if he genuinely was exhausted after a day of playing the role during his own Christmas celebrations.

Interestingly enough Jagr also used the opportunity to call out another legendary player from the National Hockey League, an active player no less. As a part of his Christmas message, Jagr made it clear that he was done taking care of his Santa duties and would be returning his focus to hockey full time. For whatever reason this also rolled into him calling out Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, a player it seems he is unlikely to cross paths with any time soon.

Sure it is possible that Jagr could find himself invited to play at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China but, with an announcement this week that players from the NHL are not planning to attend the event, a meeting with Ovechkin at those games  seems out of the question.

Alternatively, and what I believe to be more likely, this may be a comment about Ovechkin inevitably passing Jagr on the NHL's all time scoring list. Currently Ovechkin sits at 752 career goals which puts him only 14 goals away from tying Jagr who had 766 goals over the course of his career in the NHL. The only way Jagr could potentially fend off Ovechkin in this regard would be to return to the NHL, but that also seems less than likely.
