Jared Bednar gives an update on Nichushkin, Compher and Burakovsky ahead of Game 6.

Concern for Nichushkin after Game 5.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have forced a Game 6 in the Stanley Cup Final and coming off the heels of Game 5 there were a number of questions regarding the health of several members of the Colorado Avalanche roster.

First and foremost on that list were a variety of questions surrounding the health of Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin, a player that has developed into a bonafide star in these Stanley Cup playoffs and even more so during the Stanley Cup Final. In spite of playing a pivotal role for the Avalanche in Game 5, there was concern that Nichushkin had been injured during the game after a number of reporters spotted him icing what appeared to be an injury.

In fact Mike Chambers of the Denver Post described the situation as Nichushkin being "carted to the x-ray room" which painted a pretty grim picture of his potential status for Game 6.

Thankfully though, Nichushkin appears to have either avoided the worst of it or will at least be in good enough condition to play for the Avalanche in their biggest game of the season. Speaking with members of the assembled media on Saturday morning, Bednar was able to provide an update on Nichushkin and did confirm that the talented Russian forward would be good to go for Sunday's Game 6.

Additionally Bednar provided an update on Avalanche forward JT Compher who also underwent some testing after Game 5, indicating that he was also expected to be in the lineup alongside Nichushkin.

There was one more significant update from Bednar on Saturday and this one was regarding the status of Avalanche forward Andre Burakovsky. Burakovsky has been out of the lineup for the Avalanche since being injured in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, but it sounds like there is a possibility he could play.

Bednar did not officially confirm that Burakovsky would be back in the lineup for the Avalanche in Game 6, but he did indicate that he would be traveling with the team as they head back to Tampa Bay for Sunday's game.
