Jakob Chychrun tears up after scoring in front of his grandfather.

A beautiful moment for the Chychrun family.

Although the city of Ottawa wouldn't normally stick out as a destination city when weighing where players in the National Hockey League might desire to play, there's no question that it was exactly that for newly acquired Senators defenseman Jakob Chychrun.

The trade to Ottawa has not only given Chychrun a fresh start in the NHL after years spent toiling on the blue line for the most dysfunctional organization in the NHL, it has also given the young defenseman a chance to be closer to his family. Chychrun now joins both his sister Taylor and his grandfather John, both of whom already lived in Ottawa prior to the trade.

If there was any doubt about how much that means to Chychrun himself, on Saturday night the young defenseman teared up when he was shown a video of his family reacting to his first goal as a member of the Ottawa Senators. Not only was it a beautiful moment for the Chychrun family, it is a moment that has no doubt also instantly cemented Chychrun as a fan favorite in Ottawa.
