Jacob Markstrom unveils new “Lava Skull” goalie mask.

The goalie mask is an important part of a goaltender's identity and one goalie who seems to take that very seriously is Calgary Flames veteran netminder Jacob Markstrom.

The big Swede has unveiled many a mask over the years and over the weekend he did so again, revealing a new 'Lava Skull' mask that he will wear this season.

The mask was designed by Jordon Bourgeault of JBo Airbrush and as per the artist this mask was designed to be worn with one of the Flames alternate jerseys. Here's how he described the designed as per his Instagram:

LAVA SKULL!!!! This mask is a lava rock skull design with liquid magma teeth and molten lava Calgary Flames logos and a Blasty on top!! Straps are painted like lava and the cage is painted this time too, to blend into the paint job and match the black jerseys. Videos of the paint process are coming and can’t wait to see this bad boy on the ice with the Blasty jerseys!!
