Long-time NESN broadcaster Jack Edwards has got everyone worried. Or pissed off. Again on Thursday night as he stood in at the microphone to call the Boston Bruins’ game against the visiting Colorado Avalanche, Edwards started trending for all of the wrong reasons on social media.

Jack Edwards genuinely worries fans during last night’s Bruins game

Fans were pointing out how he was slurring his words and couldn’t manage to pronounce the last name of Avs goalie Alexandar Georgiev, on top of of taking long pauses between each three or four words and appearing completely lost in his own descriptions.

While some fans immediately called him out and stated they couldn’t watch the NESN broadcast due to Edwards’ inability to call the action and possibly attending the contest hammered, others voiced genuine concern for the long time broadcaster and it sounds more and more likely that something is indeed seriously wrong with his health.

Some fans asked if Edwards was dealing with some type of medical condition, while others were more ruthless and simply wondering if there is anyone worse on TV calling a hockey game then the poor Bruins’ broadcaster… ?

Here are some comments that quickly started trending along with Edwards’ name on Thursday evening:

I am not of fan of Edwards, but I have to admit that I too worry about what is going on with the voice of the Bruins. Especially this season. Something had to happen, and concern grew over the holiday season when Edwards took time off and was replaced by Alex Faust for a few games.

However, Edwards himself made a statement that he was only taking some time off, explaining on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he was in a good health and taking a short holiday for the first time in 17 years.

While there is a mystery and a lot of concern about what’s going on with Edwards, for now, fans are left without answers.

But you better believe they will keep voicing their worry and / or frustration until the Bruins might feel the pressure to make a statement about it…

Until then, I guess fans will have to put up with Edwards and his very own style…
