There was some incredible Boston Bruins team history made on Saturday night in Vancouver, the same site where the Bruins broke a 39 year Stanley Cup drought with a thrilling Game 7 victory over the host Canucks in June of 2011.
Linus Ullmark became the first goaltender in the near century-long history of the Bruins to score a goal, nailing the empty net with a perfectly placed shot from the opposite goal line.
"It's one of the dreams I always had that I wanted to score a goal, and now I had the opportunity," Ullmark said. "I tried it at the Winter Classic, didn't really make it, and now everything came together."
And everything truly did come together, courtesy of the live call from Bruins broadcaster Jack Edwards, whose exuberance absolutely put the capper on the goal that was decades in the making.
