J.T. Miller seems to already know where he’s getting traded after Instagram info leaked!
Some pundits did the extra work and might have revealed where Miller is getting moved shortly. Full story below:
Rumours are still going rampant when it comes to the Vancouver Canucks trading forward J.T. Miller as he was almost moved over the past weekend. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman revealed that a transaction almost took place but fell apart before Miller was in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers, which would have apparently sent the forward to the New York Rangers. Forward Filip Chytil, defenseman Ryan Lindgren, and a first-round pick were reportedly part of the package that Rangers general manager Chris Drury had offered Vancouver before the trade was called off.
You know how things quickly change in the NHL and that might very well be the case when it comes to Miller’s trade destination. The Carolina Hurricanes have been mentioned more than once as an interested party in the Miller sweepstakes and it sounds like the forward might be on his way to Raleigh. That’s what many fans believe is in motion, especially when it was noticed that Miller himself started following multiple Hurricanes players and Raleigh custom home companies on Instagram.
Nick Kypreos also reported on Friday that the Hurricanes are making a play to acquire Miller, who could be the missing piece in Carolina. For now, no trigger has been pulled because Kypreos believes Canucks general manager Jim Rutherford wants to come out on top in this monster transaction.
“Multiple teams in on this, Rangers, Carolina, we will see about the Devils, everyone wants to buy low, Rutherford wants to get this done but Canucks are getting nickeled and dimed.”
Last season, the Canes were already involved in trade talks with teammate Elias Pettersson and could now have changed targets to Miller.
Earlier this week, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Carolina is “active, ready to pounce.”
The Hurricanes would be able to use their deep prospect pool and their slate of picks in a trade and add Miller’s scoring touch and physicality to an established core, which would certainly push them over the edge and make them top contenders for this year’s Stanley Cup.
Miller is said to be looking to move to a contender in the East and while there is a connection with the Rangers, who selected him in the first round of the 2011 NHL Draft and where he played parts of his first six seasons, it seems like right now, he is making a connection with the Hurricanes and Carolina via his own Instagram account.
