Investigators into Adam Johnson's death share update on Monday.
The investigation into the death of hockey player Adam Johnson is ongoing, and on Monday investigators shared new information.
It is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since the tragic passing of former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson. Johnson's life was taken far too soon when, during a game between the Nottingham Panthers and the Sheffield Steelers of the United Kingdom's Elite Ice Hockey League, Johnson was struck in the neck by the skate of opposing defenseman Matt Petgrave.
The incident sparked much outrage as the game was broadcast which resulted in the video of the incident being widely shared across social media, with many questioning how Petgrave's leg could have kicked up in such a fashion that caused his skate to strike Johnson in the neck.
That being said Petgrave has not been convicted of any wrongdoing in this incident as of yet, but on Monday investigators into this case made it clear that they have not concluded their investigation into the matter.
According to a report from the BBC, investigators have extended Petgrave's bail until November 11th of this year, indicating that their reason for doing so is that ongoing investigation into this terrible tragedy.
"Our investigation is ongoing, and our thoughts remain with Adam’s family," said a spokesperson as per the BBC.
As I mentioned it has been nearly a year since Johnson lost his life on October 28th of 2023, and I can only hope for the sake of the Johnson family that they will be able to get some closure in this matter sooner rather than later.
