New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin is one of the top players in the National Hockey League at his respective position, and he's in line for a considerable raise from his modest AAV of less than $6 million when his current deal expires next summer.

But in the meantime, who does he believe is the toughest opponent that he's faced during his career? While speaking with media members in his native Russia, Shesterkin listed a few names that one would have likely guessed on their own - starting with Pittsburgh Penguins captain and divisional foe Sidney Crosby.

"Well, it comes to my mind, there are a lot of players who scored on me," he said. "So, it’s hard to choose only three. I’m gonna start with (Sidney) Crosby because he can always make different moves that are very hard to anticipate.”

Shesterkin continued by listing New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes along with Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon:

"Also, probably Hughes from New Jersey. And, probably MacKinnon because he’s got a good shot,” Shesterkin added.

A Vezina Trophy winner as the League's top goaltender in 2022, Shesterkin has continued the tradition of success between the pipes for the Rangers, following in the footsteps of franchise icons Mike Richter and Henrik Lundqvist. And many have projected that he could potentially become the highest paid goaltender in League history with his next contract.
