The 2023 NHL Draft gets underway shortly and there is already a huge buzz on the floor that a blockbuster trade could take place within the first five picks.
The Montreal Canadiens have already receive five different offers for their fifth overall pick and now insider Pierre LeBrun hints at the possibility that the Predators, who are hosting the draft in Nashville, could make a huge splash in front of their home fans.
LeBrun reports that the Preds have called San Jose on the 4th overall pick, the Sharks continue to get a number of teams calling on their pick.
But on top of that, it sounds like Nashville is even willing to shop top goalie prospect Yaroslav Askarov.
Frank Seravalli also mentioned how there was “lots of chatter that Yaroslav Askarov is in play.”
Askarov was a highly touted goalie who just completed his first year in the United States. He appeared in 48 AHL games with the Milwaukee Admirals posting a 26-16-5 record, a .911 save percentage and a 2.69 GAA.
He was the 11th overall pick in the 2020 draft. Askarov would make a lot of sense for teams like San Jose and Montreal, selecting fourth and fifth respectively tonight.
So stay tuned!
