It’s been a tough week for the Snow family despite knowing that Calgary Flames’ fans and the ones across the National Hockey League are thinking of them.
On Friday, Flames assistant general manager Chris Snow’s wife Kelsie shared a heartbreaking update on the health of her husband who suffers from ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She stated that Chris was admitted to hospital on Thursday and that he took a turn for the worse during the night and had to be put on a ventilator.
Over the weekend, Chris Snow got better to the point where he managed to provide an update on his status, stating “I did it.”
Unfortunately, his health once again deteriorated with Kelsie announcing on social media on Tuesday that Chris had been put back on a ventilator. She then explained how hard it was for her to tell her kids about their father being placed on the ventilator again, though the family appears to remain positive and looking to fight together this terrible disease.
Three years ago, after Snow was diagnosed with ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, he was given a year to live. This summer, he received a standing ovation at the 2022 NHL Awards when he and his family presented the Norris Trophy and raise awareness of the progressive neuromuscular disease.
As we keep fans updated on his condition, we hope and pray that once again Chris Snow will fight the odds and be able to remove the ventilator to speak and reassure his family.
On Tuesday night, Kelsie shared a picture of her and husband ahead of their anniversary on Thursday, focusing on the positive.
Our thoughts go out to the Snow family and Chris, who have become tireless advocates for ALS research.
Keep fighting Chris!
