Former teammate claims there’s a way for Sidney Crosby to be traded to Montreal!

Check out the arguments and you could begin to wonder why not!

There are a lot of things happening in Pittsburgh: struggles, frustration and trade rumours. While general manager Kyle Dubas maintains that Sidney Crosby, along with top teammate Evgeni Malkin, is untouchable, former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque claims there is a way the Penguins’ captain could be traded.

During his radio show on BPM 91,9 Sports on Wednesday, Laraque explained Crosby could eventually be tempted to leave Pittsburgh if the team enters a rebuild and whatever club acts to acquire him will have to take on his full $8.7 M annual salary. And Laraque believes the Montreal Canadiens are one of the few teams that could do it, and convince Sid to play for his childhood club. As a former teammate of Crosby, Laraque believes the superstar forward could be tempted to be traded to Montreal.

“Crosby, and it’s been mentioned in the past, I’ve played with him, he likes the big hockey markets… Montreal, for him, it would be perfect.

He has family here… It’s not that impossible

This is the radio segment in French:

On paper, it does seem like a plan that would work, however it just seems so far fetched for Crosby to want out of Pittsburgh… And what would the Habs be willing to part with in order to get their hands on one of the best players in the world? Can you imagine the asking price?!

Pittsburgh has no plans on moving on from Crosby and Laraque might have to only dream about this possibility of him coming to Montreal to end his illustrious career.

Last night, the fans at the Bell Center got to see Sid in action when the Penguins were in town. Pittsburgh had no mercy for the Canadiens, getting a 9-2 blowout win, though Crosby played nice and only recorded three assists.
