Flames reveal name and renderings of their new venue!
This is gonna be a great barn!
The Calgary Flames are just three years away from a long-awaited new venue, the construction of which has officially gotten underway today with a sod-laying event. The new building is expected to be ready for the Flames to move in full-time ahead of the 2027-28 NHL season.
And now, Flames fans know the name of their future home as well as having a better idea of what it will look like both inside and out with artist renderings. The new venue will be known as Scotia Place:
The Flames have been playing at Scotiabank Saddledome since the early 1980s, and the venue is badly outdated in terms of modern amenities. Additionally, the city of Calgary has had difficulties landing top musical acts to perform at the venue due to poor acoustics.
Right now, it's the second oldest arena in the National Hockey League behind only that of Madison Square Garden, which recently underwent a billion dollar renovation.
Thankfully, all of that will be changing in short order! Not only will the new Scotia Place be a state-of-the-art sports venue, but will also be able to attract the top names in entertainment to perform!
