Ex-Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill could land new job

The Detroit Red Wings made the decision to part ways with head coach Jeff Blashill in 2022 after he had spent seven seasons on the job; it wouldn't be long before he would find a new gig, as he took the role of assistant coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning under good friend Jon Cooper.
But could he potentially have the opportunity to serve as an NHL head coach once again? According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, it's a possibility.
During his latest "32 Thoughts" podcast, Friedman mentioned that the San Jose Sharks are potentially considering Blashill for their vacated head coaching position after the termination of David Quinn:
“I think Blashill is someone they’re considering,” Friedman said of the Sharks.

During his tenure with the Red Wings, following his succession of Mike Babcock in 2015, Blashill guided the team to the postseason in his inaugural year—a feat that stands as their most recent playoff appearance. However, the franchise soon began to experience a downturn as they entered a difficult and lengthy rebuilding phase. This period culminated in the team securing the league's worst record during the 2019-20 season.
His overall head coaching record at the NHL level is 204-261-72.
