Evgeni Malkin mocks Sidney Crosby following contract extension!

Teammates taking jabs at one another.

On Monday, Sidney Crosby signed a two-year extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins for his usual $8.7M US per season, extending him through the 2026-27 season.

There is no doubt that Crosby is grossly underpaid, looking to leave his team with some money to make moves, in an effort to help the Penguins win “both now and in the future.”

When his close friend and teammate Evgeni Malkin was asked about Sid’s new deal, the Russian forward immediately spoke about how Crosby would want to celebrate his new contract.

Geno didn’t miss the opportunity to mock his buddy, joking on how the predictable captain who want to celebrate with Italian food, like chicken parmigiana or caesar salad.

If you ask him on where to go eat, Malkin would much rather have sushi for the special dinner.

Two summers ago, Crosby made a visit down to Florida to visit Malkin and check on him while his close friend was dealing with contract negotiations. Five days after defenseman Kris Letang signed a six-year contract extension worth $36 million, Geno signed a four-year, $24.4 million contract, right after news leaked that Malkin intended to test free agency. Crosby didn’t want to see that happen, and now the trio remains in Pittsburgh for the next seasons and the vibrant hope to win another championship.

Crosby choose a team-first legacy over a blockbuster contract, and I’m pretty sure that means he gets to choose whatever he wants to eat to celebrate it, Geno.
