Early rumblings of a trade between the Ottawa Senators and Los Angeles Kings.
Is a deal about to go down?
There may be something brewing between the Ottawa Senators and the Los Angeles Kings, although it appears to still be relatively early in the process.
On Sunday night, Chicago Blackhawks reporter Charlie Roumeliotis spotted something very interesting when he spotted Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion in attendance for tonight's game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings.
A GM appearing at a game where his team isn't playing isn't a huge surprise at this point in the season but it usually indicates that the team is in the advanced stages of scouting a player, and there is one more detail here that lends credence to that theory.
Dorion was also reported to be in Dallas on Thursday when the Dallas Stars faced off against the aforementioned L.A. Kings. This would appear to indicate that Dorion has his eyes on a particular player on the Kings roster, although it is still too early to speculate on what specific player that might be.
That being said the Ottawa Senators haven't exactly made it a secret that they are currently in the market for a right-shot defenseman and the Kings certainly have an abundance of those that they could move in a trade. The most likely candidates are probably going to be the likes of Sean Durzi, Matt Roy, or Sean Walker, but it is likely that only Dorion and those closest to him have a genuine idea of which player, or players, he is scouting in Chicago tonight.
Update: The news has been corroborated by Senators insider Bruce Garrioch.
