The 2024-25 edition of the Detroit Red Wings is going to look different than last season's squad that came within a point of securing their first berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2016.

More than a few subtractions and additions have been made to the roster, which no longer features the likes of David Perron (signed with Ottawa), Shayne Gostisbehere( signed with Carolina), Jake Walman (traded to San Jose), Robby Fabbri (traded to Anaheim), Daniel Sprong (unsigned free agent) and James Reimer (signed with Buffalo).

Coming into town are veteran goaltender Cam Talbot, who played last season with the Los Angeles Kings, along with forward Vladimir Tarasenko, who is fresh off his second career Stanley Cup victory; he was traded to the Florida Panthers at the NHL Trade Deadline after having played the first portion of the season with Ottawa.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings also signed checking forward Tyler Motte along with defenseman Erik Gustafsson.

What exactly will the line combinations look like in the upcoming season? Beat writer Ansar Khan of MLive took an early look at potential lineup decisions that head coach Derek Lalonde will be making, which could see Jonatan Berggren earn a permanent spot in the lineup and be counted upon to help replace some of the production lost by Sprong, Perron and Fabbri.

Per Khan, Detroit's line combinations for the first game of the season could look something like this:

Line 1: Lucas Raymond-Dylan Larkin-Vladimir Tarasenko

Line 2: Alex DeBrincat-J.T. Compher-Patrick Kane

Line 3: Michael Rasmussen-Andrew Copp-Jonatan Berggren

Line 4: Joe Veleno-Tyler Motte-Christian Fischer

Khan also predictions that highly touted prospects Marco Kasper, Nate Danielson and Carter Mazur will just miss out on making the squad and will be regulars with the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins.

Red Wings fans, how would you feel about seeing these line combinations when the Red Wings hit the ice in October?
