Don Cherry sends a special message to Team Canada on Sunday.

The veteran hockey analyst was watching the Gold Medal game on Sunday and had a special message for his fellow Canadians.

There were no National Hockey League games on the schedule on Sunday with the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights having a day off while the Florida Panthers eagerly await the winner of that series in the Stanley Cup Final. In spite of the lack of NHL hockey though there was some good hockey being played with a pair of medal games at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Championship of Hockey.

The Latvians would pull off an improbable upset over the Americans, and the Canadians would once again capture Gold by defeating the Germans in the Gold Medal game. We get very few quality international hockey events these days with the NHL largely boycotting the Olympics as of late, so it comes as no surprise that a great many eyeballs tuned in to today's medal games including those belonging to veteran NHL analyst Don Cherry.

Cherry, a proud Canadian himself, took to social media following the game to congratulate his countrymen on their amazing accomplishment. Given that many of the players in the tournament no doubt grew up watching Cherry on television, they likely were thrilled to receive such a gracious compliment from Grapes.
