Devastating update on Bruins captain Brad Marchand.
The Boston Bruins have lost their captain for a significant portion of the second round.
The Boston Bruins have received some terrible news according to one source.
A report from WEEI's Rich Keefe is now claiming that the Bruins have lost their captain for multiple games, although no official source has confirmed that news as of yet. According to Keefe's sources, Marchand has been ruled out of at least the next 2 games in this series, that is to say Game 4 and Game 5.
That is of course a huge blow to the Bruins as Marchand is not only the team's locker room leader, but is also one of their most important offensive players.
Marchand was injured after he was on the receiving end of a blow to the head from Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett, a blow that some former NHL players have described as a sucker punch.
There has been no supplemental discipline announced for Bennett as of the time of this writing, which will make this an even tougher pill for the Bruins to swallow.
