Dean Evason sounds off on Matt Boldy after Sunday's loss.
The head coach of the Minnesota Wild had some harsh words for his young star forward.
Minnesota Wild head coach Dean Evason has not been holding back this season as far as his evaluation of the performance he is receiving from his players are concerned, and after yet another tough loss on Sunday Evason was at it again.
As has started to become something of a trend, Evason's ire is primarily reserved for the top stars on his roster and that was again the case after a 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.
Speaking to members of the media after the game, Evason sounded off on Wild forward Matt Boldy who has managed to produce just a single goal for the Wild this season. Boldy is in the first year of a new deal that carries an average annual value and salary cap hit of $7 million per season, and it is clear that Evason expects more from the young forward.
"There's sometimes we'll take accountability, but there's sometimes a player has got to step up," said Evason. "I don't care how old you are and I don't care what's going on. Those guys get paid a lot of money to score goals and play better. Some guys aren’t."
Evason has said his "frustration has turned into anger" and you can hardly blame the embattled head coach who finds himself near the bottom of the division. Evason's team was again plagued by costly mistakes on Sunday, and the head coach is fully aware of the fact that the players must be held accountable.
"Same mistakes, same guys not pulling their weight," added Evason.
