David Perron shares update on daughter in return to Sens.
Ottawa Senators veteran forward David Perron shared an update on his daughter's medical condition.
Veteran National Hockey League forward David Perron returned to his team, the Ottawa Senators, on Friday and with that return came some heartbreaking information about the condition of his young daughter Elizabeth Perron.
David and his wife Vanessa Perron welcomed their newborn daughter Elizabeth into the world last month but it was clear from the outset that it had been a difficult pregnancy for the family. David's wife Vanessa would post on Instagram to announce the birth of her child but added at the time that they would be providing an update on her medical condition at a later date.
On Friday, David returned to the Ottawa Senators after missing 11 games to be with his wife and child during this challenging time and shared some additional details regarding what exactly the Perron family and young Elizabeth were going through.
David would reveal that his daughter has already undergone a pair of medical procedures due to a mass that formed on her lung, one prior to her being born and another right after she was born. It sounds like both procedures were a success which is of course great news and furthermore it also sounds like things appear to be trending in the right direction for young Elizabeth.
It sounds like this is an ongoing challenge for the family as well, with the battle still ongoing.
"We're not fully out of the woods yet, but we're getting there," said David Perron on Friday.
David's decision to miss 11 games mid-season now seems like a very small thing indeed when compared to the health and well being of his family, and I can only hope that things will continue to trend in a positive direction for him, his wife Vanessa, and of course baby Elizabeth.
