David Perron celebrates his 1000th career game with a goal!
What a moment for the 34 year old veteran.
The Detroit Red Wings were celebrating a big milestone on Saturday afternoon with Red Wings veteran forward David Perron playing in the 1000th game of his National Hockey League career.
In a show of great class, the Dallas Stars acknowledged the achievement from Perron who was hitting the incredible milestone during an away game. Even better though was the warm reception that the well respected veteran received from the crowd in Dallas, Texas, who gave Perron quite the round of applause for an opposing player.
Perron made sure to make his special day a memorable one and celebrated with a goal during the closing seconds of the game's second period, a goal that would bring the Red Wings back into the game by tying the score at 2-2.
It was a great way for Perron to show that he still has plenty of gas left in the tank at 34 years old and an even better way to cap off what will no doubt be a very memorable moment in Perron's life.
When Perron spoke of the milestone prior to the game he repeatedly mentioned how humbled he was to be included among the short list of NHL players that have reached the 1000 career game milestone, adding that he had never imagined it would happen to him. Perron also revealed that his secret to longevity comes from the fact that he has never taken a game for granted, and that was on full display again today.
