Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery made some changes to the Boston Bruins lineup on Saturday ahead of a clash with the Los Angeles Kings, and those changes paid off in more ways than one.

Although much of the credit will go to Bruins superstar David Pastrnak, and rightfully so, there was no question that the changes implemented by Montgomery on Saturday played a significant factor in the Bruins picking up two points over the Kings.

Montgomery made the decision to put a pair of young players into the lineup in the form of Matt Poitras and Mason Lohrei and as fate would have it, both men played a role in what would prove to be the overtime winning goal from Pastrnak. The two relatively inexperienced National Hockey League players would both get credited for assists on Pastrnak's game winner, and you can see the replay of that goal just below.

Not only did it pay off for the Bruins in the overall standings but it likely also did a great deal to integrate the two youngsters in with the rest of the veterans on the Bruins roster, with Pastrnak even taking some jabs at his two teammates after scoring today's big goal.

Following the game Pastrnak was asked about being on the ice with them in overtime and, in rather hilarious fashion, Pastrnak roasted the two young men when speaking to reporters.

"I went ‘oh my god I’m on the ice with these kids,'" said Pastrnak.

Although Pastrnak may have had some genuine trepidation about playing in a high pressure scenario alongside Poitras and Lohrei, it proved to once again be the right decision on the par of Jim Montgomery who had a pretty good run of form today given the results.
